Villa Maria: Luxury in the Hamptons

Fashion entrepreneurs Louise and Vince Camuto restore Villa Maria—one of Long Island’s most majestic manors, with an enchanting waterfront setting—to its original Jazz Age grandeur.

.

Villa Maria, a historic residence in Water Mill, New York, was dramatically updated by new owners Louise and Vince Camuto, in collaboration with Andre Tchelistcheff Architects and Carol Egan Interiors.

Entrance Hall

A chandelier from Mecox hangs in the entrance hall, where a wrought-iron balustrade lines the serpentine staircase; the faux-limestone walls are by decorative painter Jerzy Cuban, and the circa-1890 Régence-style sconce is from David Duncan Antiques.

Living Room

In the living room, twin sofas and an ottoman, all slipcovered in a Calvin Fabrics linen, are grouped with a Giacometti-inspired cocktail table and side table by Carole Gratale; the set of six marble-top bronze tables is by Lucca & Co., and the antiqued mercury-glass mirrors are by APF Munn.

Kitchen

The kitchen, painted in a Benjamin Moore white, features custom-made holophane lights by Ann-Morris Antiques and cabinetry by Eppley Building & Design; the oak bench and ebonized bobbin chair are antique.

Kitchen

Carrara marble was used for the counters as well as the backsplash above the Wolf range; the pot filler and sink fittings are by Waterworks.

Gallery

The paneled gallery is furnished with a pair of circa-1820 daybeds from Anglo-Raj Antiques and a 19th-century English turned armchair; the curtains are of a Rogers & Goffigon fabric, and the sisal is by Merida Meridian.

Media Room

In the media room, brass chandeliers from English Country Antiques overlook slipcovered seating by Montauk Sofa.

Dining Room

The dining room, sheathed in Venetian plaster by Kubina, displays a Donald Baechler work on paper atop the mantel; the bespoke sideboard is by Daniel Scuderi Antiques.

Master Suite

In the master suite, an 18th-century Swedish corona from Dienst + Dotter Antikviteter complements the Ralph Lauren Home bed and linens. At the foot of the bed is a TV cabinet designed by Egan and covered in a Bergamo horsehair; the daybed next to the window is also by Ralph Lauren Home, the X-form stools are by Jonathan Adler, and the antique armchair is clad in an Old World Weavers toile de Jouy from Stark.

Master Bath

The master bath’s custom-made marble tub features Waterworks fittings.

Atrium

Bronze-and-leather stools flank a limestone table in the atrium; the wood sculpture is a 1985 piece by Mario Dal Fabbro from Maison Gerard, and the hanging lantern and tile floor are original to the home.

Pool Terrace

The sandstone-paved pool terrace is outfitted with furniture by Janus et Cie.
